Hiring COMPETE 25 Interns

Using the links below, you will find the information you need to post, interview and hire a COMPETE student for your internship opportunities. STEMatch strives to adapt to your existing recruitment cycles and internship programs. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let us know. We want to make it as easy as possible to work with us, and more importantly, to consider COMPETE talent.

We’re confident you will meet some impressive early career tech talent within our COMPETE cohort, and we’re excited for them to meet with you! Our students understand that while we guarantee them the opportunity to interview for your internship roles, the decision to hire is up to you—our corporate partners. When COMPETE students receive an internship offer, it’s because they successfully demonstrated they can meet the requirements of the role and have earned this important opportunity.

STEMatch does not expect partners to hire students who don’t meet their requirements, although we are pleased to share that a lack of talent within our cohorts has not been an issue thus far. We look forward to continued success with each upcoming cohort of students.

Overview:

Intern Hiring

  1. Provide STEMatch with the job posting/description for your internship—including start/end dates, hours per week, location (on premise, hybrid, remote), salary, commute stipend and any other requirements/expectations students should know prior to meeting with you.

  2. Once your internship is posted on our student website, you will receive a link to access student resumes. Please note: these are their “standard” resumes—not tailored to any specific internship opportunity.

  3. Your hiring team will be asked to review and rank the student resumes according to your interest in interviewing them.

  4. Using your rankings, STEMatch will create an interview list for each of your positions that includes your four top-ranked students, as well as, two additional students (to ensure every COMPETE student gets this critical interview experience).

  5. We notify students of your interest and let them know that you will be reaching out to them directly to set up the interviews.

  6. You conduct the interviews according to your process and schedule.

  7. Upon completion of your interviews with COMPETE students, we ask you to fill out and submit our Internship Interview Feedback form. This information allows us to offer helpful feedback to students and measure/improve the efficacy of the COMPETE program in preparing them.

  8. If you find a student you’d like to hire, please make the offer directly to the student(s) and inform us of the offer(s) you’ve made.

  9. Once hired, you should plan to onboard and manage COMPETE interns according to your standard processes.

  10. During the internship, we will check in with interns, and intern managers as needed, to support their transition and success.

  11. At the end of internship, all intern managers are asked to complete an internship evaluation/job-readiness assessment for their intern(s) and conduct a brief mock interview for 3-4 other COMPETE students. This data helps us to measure the efficacy of the COMPETE program, the curriculum and student support services of our school partners and provides valuable feedback to COMPETE students — our future entry-level workforce!
