COMPETE

STEMatch COMPETE helps you access a traditionally-untapped, job-ready talent pool

…and make tech jobs more accessible to Americans in lower-income communities

It’s hard to find great tech talent

Built by business people, for business

COMPETE is a non-profit workforce development program that helps you access a historically untapped pool of job-ready candidates. These candidates have the significant technical training required to perform entry-level software development, cybersecurity, electrical engineering/electronics, bio/pharma lab technician, and IT support jobs. STEMatch provides the soft skills training needed to succeed in your company. Add light-lift mentoring and internship experience - that’s where our corporate partners come in - and COMPETE graduates are ready to solve your talent needs.

Created by business people, for business - STEMatch COMPETE began as an experiment by tech delivery and tech-user companies such as IBM, Mimecast, State Street Bank and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Tech execs evaluated the cybersecurity curriculum at MassBay Community College - and interviewed and assessed students’ “hireability”, to determine if community colleges could be a scalable talent feeder for tech jobs.

The tech execs’ unanimous conclusion? Community college students CAN be effective entry-level hires, with additional work skills training, mentoring, and internship experience. And this is what the COMPETE program provides hard-working students.
